About the event
Music by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Haydn and Schoenberg.
Following her Leipzig recital disc, Eleanor continues her musical tour of famous cities with a tour of Vienna . With music spanning the centuries, this programme includes Schubert's Moments Musicaux, Mozart Sonata in A major and Beethoven's little known set of gorgeous Variations on a theme by Paisiello (with a small surprise thrown in!). Eleanor will also play the gorgeous Piano Sonata in E flat major, Hob XVI: 52 1st movt. that she has written an interesting article about in the recent newsletter.
Vienna is still known as one of the great cultural capitals of the world, as famous for its waltzes as its architecture. The city flourished in the 19th century as a rich aristocratic centre, where wealthy patrons of the arts provided the perfect conditions for the rise of some the greatest composers of all time.
