INTERVAL
Mendelssohn - Octet in E flat major.
Written, in 1825, when he was only 16 years old, Mendelssohn's String Octet in E Flat major remains one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. The youthful exhuberance and passion in the music is, at times, almost overwhelming, with moments of touching beauty and maturity that are still staggering, nearly 200 years later. It is impossible not to be swept along in the tide of this extraordinary, virtuosic music.
enSEmble26 are so thrilled to be bringing back together these 4 awesome couples for this evening's concert. If you had been at our concert in May, you are sure to join us again! Tom and Ellie from enSEmble26 will be joined by the international soloist, Roman Simovic, the extraordinary violist Milena Simovic, our 'Puertas Quartet' companions, Andrew and Julia Joyce, Principal Cello and Viola of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and finally the cellist Stephanie Tress, and her husband William Newell on violin, from the multi award winning Solem Quartet.
